Snow Bros came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Toaplan. It was part of that wave of arcade-style games that felt right at home on the NES, offering straightforward, screen-based action without a lot of the complexity that was starting to show up in other titles around that time.

You control one of two snowmen, Nick or Tom, and your goal is to clear each screen of enemies by trapping them in snowballs. You shoot snow to encase foes, then push the rolling snowball to take out other enemies; if it gets big enough, it clears the whole screen when it hits a wall. The game moves at a quick pace, and the difficulty ramps up steadily as enemy types and patterns get more aggressive. It feels satisfying to set off a chain reaction and watch the screen clear in one go.
