Game Overview

Snow Bros. came out for the NES in 1990, developed by Toaplan. It was one of those straightforward arcade-style games that felt right at home on the system, offering a colorful, cooperative experience without the complexity of some other titles from that era. You and a friend could jump in together, which was a nice option when you wanted something simple and fun to share.

You control one of two snowmen, Nick or Tom, and your goal is to clear each screen of enemies by trapping them in snowballs. You shoot snow at foes until they're completely encased, then kick the resulting snowball to send it rolling across the platform. If it hits other enemies, they get taken out too; sometimes you can set off chain reactions that clear the whole stage at once. The game progresses screen by screen, with occasional boss fights against characters like a yeti that require more precise timing and pattern recognition. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty feels fair but gradually demanding. It's satisfying to pull off a big combo and watch the screen clear in one smooth motion.
