Solatorobo: Red the Hunter is one of those DS games that just oozes charm—you’ve got floating islands, a sky pirate gang that looks like cats, and a world where people hire hunters to do everything from trash cleanup to punching mercenaries in the face. You play as Red, a guy who just wanted to score some jewelry but accidentally woke up a kaiju-sized monster instead. Now he’s stuck road-tripping across the Shepard Republic with his sister Chocolat and a kid named Elh, who’s definitely hiding something.

The combat’s simple but weirdly satisfying—your mech, the Dahak, can’t punch or shoot, but it can grab and throw enemies (or missiles, if you time it right). Tossing a bad guy into another bad guy never gets old. Between fights, you’ll hop out of the mech to explore towns, dig through crates, and take on side jobs that actually feel worth doing—upgrading your rank unlocks better gear, and the cash lets you soup up your robot with faster legs or tougher armor.

Oh, and there’s this goofy-but-fun flight racing minigame that sneaks in some multiplayer. It’s not the main draw, but it’s a nice break when you’re tired of yeeting robots into the stratosphere. The whole thing’s got this Saturday-morning-cartoon energy, right down to the absurdly catchy soundtrack.
