Game Overview

Soldier of Light is one of those Amiga games that throws a little bit of everything at you—side-scrolling run-and-gun action, short shmup sections, and a whole lot of alien planets to blast through. You play as Xain, this armored warrior guy who jumps around shooting up hordes of invaders. The controls are simple—run, jump, duck—but some of those ledges can be tricky to land on at first.

What’s cool is how each planet feels totally different. One’s a desert wasteland, another’s this icy underwater nightmare, and there’s even a boiling Mars-like hellscape. You pick your order, fight through waves of enemies, then hop in your ship for a quick shoot-'em-up break before moving to the next one. Lose a life, though, and you’re back to your basic weapon—which hurts when you’ve just grabbed something awesome.

Beat all five planets, and you unlock this Death Star-looking final level where everything goes nuts. It’s not the longest game, but it’s got that classic Amiga charm—bright colors, chunky sprites, and just enough challenge to keep you retrying. The music’s pretty solid too, if you’re into that old-school synth vibe.
