Game Overview

Song Master is one of those weird little SNES games that makes you go, "Wait, how did this even get made?" It's part rhythm game, part action game, and all kinds of bizarre. You're basically playing an instrument with your controller—hitting buttons in time with the music to make things happen on screen.

Some levels feel like a fever dream: one minute you're tapping along to keep your character sprinting through a neon city, the next you're dodging attacks that only land on the offbeat. The music’s surprisingly catchy too, with these chiptune tracks that somehow worm their way into your head. It’s not as polished as later rhythm games, but there’s something charming about how experimental it is.

If you’re into obscure SNES stuff or just love games that try something completely different, this one’s a trip. I still hum some of these tunes years later.
