Sonic Riders came out on the GameCube in 2006, developed and published by Sega. It was a time when the blue blur was trying all sorts of spin-offs, and this one threw him and his friends onto anti-gravity boards for a racing experience that felt entirely separate from the usual platforming.

You control Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or a host of other characters, each with their own board type and special moves, racing through twisting, multi-level tracks. The main goal is straightforward: finish first. The signature mechanics are all about managing your air tank, which depletes as you ride and is refilled by performing tricks off ramps or by drafting closely behind other racers. The pacing is relentlessly fast, and the difficulty can spike sharply on later courses, demanding precise control and smart air management. It feels like a constant, high-speed balancing act between going all out and making sure you don't grind to a halt.
