You play as Dave Stutler, the apprentice, and your main goal is to stop the evil Morganians from unleashing chaos. The core of the game is casting spells by drawing specific runes on the touch screen with the stylus. You start with simple spells to move objects or create small barriers, but later you learn to freeze water into platforms or summon wind to push heavy obstacles. The levels are built around these magic puzzles, often requiring a few tries to get the rune just right. The pacing is fairly straightforward, moving from one contained challenge to the next without much backtracking. It feels satisfying when a carefully drawn symbol actually works and changes the environment around you.
