Play Space Rogue Online
You start broke in a junker spaceship, sweating over shady cargo deals or picking fights you’re not ready for—then suddenly you’re the one pirates run from when that new laser finally pays off.

Space Rogue came out in 1989 from Origin Systems, one of those MS-DOS titles that felt ambitious for its time. It sits alongside other early space sims, not quite as polished as some later releases but full of ideas that would become genre staples. You get the sense it was built by people who really wanted to capture the freedom and danger of living on the fringe.
You control a freelance pilot trying to scrape together credits and reputation across a network of star systems. The main goal is to build up your ship, take on missions, and survive long enough to become a force in the galaxy. Key mechanics include trading goods between ports, engaging in tactical ship-to-ship combat, and managing your limited cargo and fuel supplies. The pacing is deliberate, even slow at times, with sudden bursts of danger when a deal goes wrong or pirates jump into the system. It feels like a constant, tense calculation of risk versus reward, where every jump could lead to profit or a quick end.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
