Oh man, Spartan X—this was my first taste of that classic arcade brawler energy on the NES. You’re basically pixel Bruce Lee, throwing kicks and punches through five floors of some villain’s hideout. No fancy moves here, just pure timing: duck under flying knives, jump over snakes, and pray you don’t get cornered by those goons in red headbands.
The timer’s always breathing down your neck, which somehow makes it more fun? It’s one of those games where you’ll fail a dozen times before realizing you can cheese certain enemies by hugging the stairs. And that final boss? Let’s just say younger me rage-quit more than once.
It’s clunky by today’s standards, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about how straightforward it is. You either master the rhythm or get wrecked. Still holds up if you’re into raw, old-school challenge.
