Separation Anxiety came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed by Software Creations. It was part of that wave of licensed games that tried to capture the energy of the comics, and it arrived when beat 'em ups were still a solid choice for couch co-op. You control either Spider-Man or Venom, moving screen by screen to punch, kick, and web-sling through waves of symbiote-infected enemies. The main goal is to stop Carnage and other symbiotes from causing chaos, which involves a lot of straightforward brawling. Signature mechanics include the ability to pick up and throw enemies or objects, and a two-player co-op mode that lets you team up with a friend. The pacing is fairly relentless, with enemies swarming constantly, and the difficulty can spike without much warning. It feels like a messy, energetic brawl that captures the chaos of a comic book fight.
