Game Overview

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows for the PSP came out in 2008, developed by Amaze Entertainment and published by Activision. It was part of that wave of handheld games trying to capture the feel of bigger console releases, with New York City under siege by the symbiote invasion. The PSP version scaled things down but kept the core conflict intact, letting you swing through a condensed version of Manhattan while the story unfolded around you.

You control Spider-Man, switching between his classic red suit and the aggressive black symbiote suit on the fly. The main goal is to clear the city of symbiotes, rescue civilians, and take down key villains. Signature mechanics include fluid, combo-based combat with web strikes and aerial moves, as well as the ability to crawl on nearly any surface. The pacing is brisk, with frequent enemy encounters and quick traversal between objectives; the difficulty can spike during boss fights or crowded battles. It feels responsive and fast, though the camera and wall-crawling take some practice to master smoothly.
