Game Overview

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows for the PSP came out in 2008, developed by Shaba Games and published by Activision. It was one of the few open-world style Spider-Man games on the handheld, arriving late in the PSP's life when developers were pushing what the hardware could do. The game tried to bring a taste of console freedom to a smaller screen, set against a symbiote invasion of New York.

You control Spider-Man, swinging and fighting through a side-scrolling version of the city. Your main goal is to stop the symbiote takeover, clearing infected zones and taking down key targets. Signature mechanics include switching between the classic red suit and the aggressive black suit on the fly, each with unique combos and upgrades. Combat focuses on aerial juggling, webbing enemies mid-air, and using environmental slams. The pacing is action-heavy, with frequent enemy waves and boss fights that demand quick reflexes. It feels fluid and responsive once you adjust to the controls, delivering a solid handheld superhero experience.
