Play Spitfire Ace Online
Pilot a Spitfire, engage in dogfights, manage your throttle and flaps, and try to shoot down enemy planes over the English Channel in this classic flight sim from 1982.
Spitfire Ace came out in 1982 for MS-DOS, published by MicroProse Software. It was one of those early flight sims that tried to capture the feel of World War II air combat on hardware that was still pretty limited. You could tell it was ambitious for its time, even if the graphics were just simple wireframes and flat colors.
You pilot a British Spitfire, engaging German fighters over the English Channel. The main goal is to survive each sortie, shoot down enemy planes, and return to base. Key mechanics include managing your throttle and flaps for speed control, lining up targets in a primitive gunsight, and avoiding midair collisions. The pacing is tense; enemy fighters come at you from all directions, and the limited visibility makes every engagement unpredictable. It feels raw and demanding, like you're actually fighting for control up there.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
