Play Star Fox 2 (Beta1) Online
You zip around a map defending Corneria, swapping pilots mid-battle—Falco dodges lasers while Peppy tanks hits, all in janky '95 polygons that somehow still feel right.

Star Fox 2 (Beta1) is that SNES game you probably heard whispers about but never got to play—until now. It takes everything you loved about the original and throws in free-roaming chaos. Instead of just following a set path, you’re zipping around a map, scrambling to stop enemy fleets before they reach Corneria. The first time an all-range battle kicked in, I panicked because suddenly I wasn’t just shooting forward—I was spinning everywhere, dodging lasers from all sides.
Swapping between Fox, Falco, Peppy, and Slippy mid-mission actually matters here—Falco’s speed makes him great for hit-and-runs, while Peppy’s tanky ship can soak up damage when things get messy. The graphics are obviously dated (those polygons were cutting-edge in ’95), but there’s something charming about how hard it pushes the SNES. You can tell Nintendo was experimenting—some mechanics feel half-finished, but that just makes it more interesting. This is the missing link between Star Fox and Star Fox 64, warts and all.
