Game Overview
Star Fox Adventures is that weird but kind of awesome GameCube game where Fox McCloud trades his usual space battles for a Zelda-style adventure on a dinosaur planet. You start off playing as Krystal (who gets kidnapped almost immediately, because of course), then switch to Fox as he runs around whacking things with a magic staff and solving puzzles.
The Arwing sections are there, but they feel almost like an afterthought—most of the time you're on foot, exploring jungles and ruins while Peppy and Slippy chime in with advice. The staff combat is simple but satisfying, especially when you unlock new magic abilities. And yeah, you'll collect scarabs to buy gear, because apparently even space mercenaries need pocket money.
It's janky in places, and the story gets silly (General Scales? Really?), but there's something charming about Fox McCloud awkwardly adapting to being an action-adventure hero. The soundtrack slaps, too.
