Game Overview
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy on SNES is basically the console version of Interplay’s PC space sim—though it’s a little stripped down compared to the original. You’re flying Federation ships through tactical missions, dodging photon torpedoes and trying not to blow up your own crew by accident (which, uh, happens more than I’d like to admit).
The 3D polygonal ships look blocky as hell by today’s standards, but back then, maneuvering a Constitution-class cruiser through asteroid fields while Klingons shot at you felt pretty intense. The controls take some getting used to—expect a lot of trial and error before you stop overshooting your targets.
It’s definitely a niche pick for Trekkies who don’t mind retro jank. Just don’t expect the full PC experience.
