Ever wanted to sit in Picard’s chair and actually run the Enterprise? This SNES game lets you do exactly that—though fair warning, it’s not as easy as the crew makes it look. You start off with the Romulans acting suspicious (when are they not?) and the ship’s bridge suddenly becomes your command center. Adjust shields, scan planets, or yell at Worf to fire torpedoes—everything’s at your fingertips.

Then there’s the away missions, which feel like a weird mix of Star Trek and an old-school dungeon crawler. Picking your team matters—Data’s basically cheat mode since he doesn’t need oxygen, and Crusher’s the only one who can patch people up. You’ll shuffle between scanning rocks with a tricorder and blasting rogue drones, all while trying not to get lost in the maze-like planet maps.

Ship combat’s tense, especially when your shields are at 20% and you’re desperately rerouting power to engines just to dodge torpedoes. The Genesis version’s a bit snappier, but the SNES one has that nostalgic slow-burn Trek vibe. Either way, you’ll spend half your time digging through the ship’s database just to remember what a "plasma conduit" even is.
