Stillhunt is one of those weirdly tense MS-DOS shooters that somehow makes blocky trees and pixelated fog feel genuinely unsettling. You're out in the woods, rifle in hand, but it's not just about lining up shots—half the time, you're holding your breath because something just moved in the undergrowth and you can't tell if it's a deer or something... less friendly.
The graphics are obviously dated, but that low-res haze works in its favor—you're squinting at shadows, jumping at sudden animal noises, and honestly, missing a lot of shots because the adrenaline's got you shaky. It's less about run-and-gun action and more about that slow, creeping dread of being hunted while you hunt. If you ever played Deer Hunter as a kid and thought "this, but with more existential terror," you'll get it immediately.
Fair warning: the sound design will make you paranoid. That distant owl hoot? Probably fine. The rustling right behind you? Pray.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
