Play Stillhunt Online
Navigate a scrolling forest, hunt deer for points, and stay alert for predators while managing scarce ammo in this tense first-person experience.
Stillhunt was released as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though it originally came from a smaller developer, perhaps shareware or early indie. It fits right into that era of PC gaming where you got a lot of experimental, sometimes janky, but always earnest titles that explored what you could do with limited graphics and sound.
You play as a hunter alone in a large, scrolling forest, armed with a rifle and a limited supply of ammunition. Your goal is to hunt deer for points while avoiding or defending yourself from aggressive predators like bears. The game uses a first-person perspective from the hunter's eyes; you move screen by screen through the woods, listening for audio cues like rustling leaves or animal calls to locate your targets. The pacing is slow and deliberate, almost tense, because ammo is scarce and predators can appear without warning. It feels like a cautious, lonely walk where every decision matters.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
