Play Street Fighter II' - Special Champion Edition Online
Play as all 12 fighters, including the bosses, with that crunchy Genesis sound. The sprites are a little chunky, but you’ll still lose hours trying to land that perfect Shoryuken.
Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition came out for the Sega Genesis in 1993, developed and published by Capcom. It was one of the better home ports at the time, bringing the arcade experience to the console with a good degree of faithfulness. The game stood out on the Genesis for its character roster and responsive controls, offering a solid alternative to the Super Nintendo version.
You control one of twelve fighters, including the four boss characters previously unavailable in earlier home releases. The main objective is to defeat all opponents in a series of one-on-one matches across the world tournament. Signature mechanics include executing special moves with precise joystick motions and button combinations, building a super meter through successful attacks to unleash more powerful techniques, and adapting to each opponent's unique fighting style. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be steep, especially against later computer-controlled fighters. It feels satisfying to land a well-timed combo or finally counter a tricky opponent after several attempts.
