Play Subroc-3D Online

You peer through a jittery wireframe periscope, wrestling with tank controls to blast floating shapes that might be planes—or maybe angry geometry. The whole thing feels like playing an arcade cabinet that’s half-asleep and dreaming in vectors.

Game Overview

Subroc-3D is one of those weird, early '80s arcade games that tried 3D before anyone really knew how to do it right. You're in this tank with a periscope view, shooting at planes and subs that pop up in the distance—except everything's made of wireframes and blinks at you like an angry robot. The controls take a second to get used to (left stick moves, right stick aims), but once it clicks, there's something oddly satisfying about lining up shots in that janky 3D space.

Don't expect modern polish—enemies teleport in, the sound effects sound like a fax machine having a meltdown, and the "3D" is basically just lines floating in space. But that's part of the charm. It's like playing a museum exhibit that somehow still holds up as a frantic score-chaser. I kept going back just to beat my high score, even though the game absolutely cheats sometimes.

If you're into arcade oddities or want to see where 3D gaming started, this one's a trip.
