Game Overview

Suicide Mission came out for the Atari 2600 in 1982, published by Data Age. It was one of those games that tried to do something a little different on the system, putting you in control of a microscopic submarine inside a human body instead of the usual space or jungle settings.

You pilot a small sub through narrow, winding passages, shooting at virus cells that break apart into smaller pieces when hit. The main goal is to clear each screen of these enemies before moving deeper into the body. The controls take some getting used to; the sub moves with a certain inertia that makes precise dodging tricky. The pacing is tense, especially when the screen gets crowded with split viruses closing in. It feels like a race against your own reflexes as much as the game's obstacles.
