Wisdom Tree released Sunday Funday: The Ride in 1995 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, a time when most developers had already moved on to newer consoles. It was a late, unofficial entry, a biblical-themed reskin of their earlier game, and it felt completely out of step with where games were heading.
You control a boy on a bicycle, pedaling through a side-scrolling landscape to reach the end of each stage. Your main objective is to collect scrolls while avoiding obstacles like rolling apples and giant, bouncing Bibles. The mechanics are simple: you jump over hazards and try to maintain momentum on the bike, which handles with a deliberate, slippery clumsiness. The pacing is slow, and the difficulty comes from awkward jumps and unpredictable enemy patterns. It feels like navigating a very earnest, slightly broken dream.
