Super Air Diver (Europe) is one of those obscure SNES gems that never made it outside Japan—unless you count this European release. It's the sequel to Lock On (which was Super Air Diver in Japan, because of course naming conventions had to be confusing).
You’re basically thrown into the cockpit of a fighter jet with some seriously arcadey flight controls—not exactly a sim, but not full-on After Burner either. The first mission has you weaving through canyons and taking out enemy planes, and the sprite scaling actually holds up pretty well for a '95 release. The music’s got that classic SNES synth-rock vibe, too.
It’s not the deepest game out there, but if you’re into retro shooters with a bit of that old-school challenge, it’s a solid pick. Just don’t expect a tutorial—you’ll be figuring out the lock-on mechanics by trial and error.
