Game Overview

Sword & The Rose is one of those Amiga games that feels like stumbling into a medieval fairy tale—if fairy tales had awkward controls and a weirdly addictive charm. You play as this knight trying to rescue a princess (classic, right?), but the levels are these sprawling, maze-like castles where you’re constantly backtracking because you missed a key or got lost in identical-looking corridors. The graphics have that chunky, colorful Amiga vibe, and the music sticks in your head even when you’re not playing.

At first, I kept dying to the same bat enemy because the sword swings are weirdly delayed, but once you get the rhythm down, it’s oddly satisfying. There’s something about the janky collision detection and cryptic level design that makes beating it feel like an actual accomplishment. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand—half the fun is figuring out where the heck you’re supposed to go next.
