Tamagotchi Town was a Japan only release for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1999, developed and published by Bandai. It arrived late in the SNES lifecycle, a time when the console was seeing fewer new titles, especially outside of Japan. You control a human character who is responsible for a Tamagotchi pet, guiding it through a small town presented in a top down view. The main objective is to keep your Tamagotchi happy and healthy by feeding it, playing mini games with it, and cleaning up after it makes a mess. You explore the town screen by screen, interacting with various locations like shops and parks to acquire items or participate in activities. The pacing is slow and deliberate, focused on routine care rather than action or complex challenges. It feels like managing a persistent, slightly unpredictable companion on a very low stakes walk.
