Tamagotchi Town came out for the Super Nintendo in 1999, developed by Bandai. It was a late release for the system, a time when many players were already moving on to newer consoles, but it offered a different kind of experience for those still plugged into their SNES. The game took the core idea of the virtual pet and tried to build a whole world around it.

You don't control a single character so much as you manage a small group of Tamagotchis living in a town. Your main job is to keep them happy and healthy by feeding them, playing mini-games with them, and cleaning up after them. They wander the town's various screens on their own, getting into mischief or just lazing about, and you have to track them down to fulfill their needs. The pacing is constant, a cycle of checking meters and responding to their whims, and it can feel a bit frantic when multiple pets are demanding attention at once. It feels like running a very small, very chaotic daycare.
