Play Tau Ceti Online
You pilot a clunky skimmer across a massive alien city at night, fumbling with infrared while killer robots stalk the streets—one wrong turn and you're scrap metal. Those shifting shadows still freak me out.

Tau Ceti came out in 1985 from CRL Group, one of those early MS-DOS titles that felt ambitious for its time. It was a first-person adventure set on an alien world, built for systems that were just starting to handle complex graphics and simulation. You didn't get a lot of hand-holding back then; games expected you to figure things out, and Tau Ceti was no exception.
You control a planetary scout vehicle, navigating a hostile city filled with automated defenses and environmental hazards. Your main goal is to explore the abandoned structures, gather data, and survive long enough to complete your mission. The game uses a screen-by-screen movement system, with each new area presenting potential threats or clues. Combat involves targeting enemy drones with your limited weapons, while managing energy and repair systems to avoid catastrophic failure. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense; you move cautiously because mistakes are costly and resources are thin. It feels like being a vulnerable explorer in a place that does not want you there.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
