Play Tecmo Secret of the Stars (Beta) Online
You juggle two separate adventuring parties across continents, swapping between them mid-game—then watch them team up for absurdly overpowered combo attacks when bosses get too rowdy. Yeah, the translation’s rough and the pacing’s weird, but where else are you fighting a living castle?

Tecmo Secret of the Stars came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed and published by Tecmo. It was one of those mid-90s action RPGs that tried to stand out with a unique structure, though it never quite broke into the mainstream conversation like some of its peers.
You control two different parties, one on each of two continents, and you switch between them to progress. Your main goal is to gather the five Aqutallion parts to stop an ancient evil. The gameplay involves screen by screen exploration, real-time combat with swords and magic, and some light puzzle solving in dungeons. The pacing can feel uneven, and the difficulty spikes without much warning. It feels ambitious but a little disjointed, like the developers had more ideas than they could smoothly fit together.
