Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Volume 1 on GBA feels like a throwback to the old arcade beat 'em ups, but with a bit more depth. You start off picking your turtle, and right away you notice how each one handles differently—Donatello's long reach makes him feel safer, while Raphael's quick strikes are riskier but satisfying.
The first few levels throw waves of Foot Soldiers at you, and it's fun figuring out how to juggle them with combos. The controls are simple, but the enemy patterns keep you on your toes. I remember getting cornered by a swarm of them early on, realizing too late that I should've been switching turtles more often.
It's not perfect—some of the platforming sections feel clunky, and the camera doesn't always help. But the core brawling is solid, and there's something nostalgic about seeing the turtles in their pixelated glory.
