Play Tempest 2000 Online
You pilot a tiny ship along the edges of morphing neon tunnels, blasting geometric nightmares before they reach you—just when you think you've got the rhythm, the whole level flips upside down.

Tempest 2000 came out in 1994 for MS-DOS as part of the Classic Games series, developed by Llamasoft. It was a remake of the original arcade game Tempest, and it fit right into that era of fast, abstract shooters that pushed the limits of what PCs could handle visually. The game didn't rely on story or characters; it was all about the action and the sensory overload.
You control a clawed ship that moves along the rim of a wireframe tunnel, shooting down enemies that emerge from the far end. The main goal is to clear each stage of all foes while avoiding their attacks and the deadly spikes. Key mechanics include the ability to jump over obstacles, use a superzapper to clear the screen in emergencies, and collect power-ups like AI drones that orbit and protect you. The pacing is relentless, with levels that warp and spin unexpectedly, and the difficulty escalates quickly. Playing it feels like riding a lightning bolt through a kaleidoscope; it's pure, frantic energy from start to finish.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
