Game Overview

Test Drive III: The Passion came out in 1990 for MS-DOS, published by Accolade. It was part of that wave of early racing games that tried to capture the thrill of high-speed driving on home computers, back when 3D graphics were still a novelty and not quite polished.

You choose from a selection of licensed sports cars, like the Dodge Viper or the Ferrari Testarossa, and race them on long, winding highways. The main goal is to outrun police cars that chase you if you speed; you also need to avoid traffic and manage your fuel to reach the next gas station. The game uses a first-person perspective from inside the car, with a dashboard showing your speed and damage, and the roads scroll by in a early polygonal style. It can feel repetitive after a while, but there's a simple satisfaction in pushing your car to its limits and watching the landscape blur past.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
