Play The Civil War Online
Pick Union or Confederate, then sweat over supply lines and flanking maneuvers while your pixel troops clash on a stark grid—it’s chess meets history with no room for button-mashing.

The Civil War was a 1995 MS-DOS strategy game released by Empire Interactive. It arrived during a period when historical simulations were gaining complexity on home computers, offering a detailed look at the conflict without the flash of arcade-style action. You take command of either the Union or Confederate forces, managing armies across a map of the eastern United States.
You control generals and move regiments across a hex-based map, engaging in turn-based tactical battles where positioning and supply lines determine success. The main objective is to achieve military victory by capturing key cities and outmaneuvering your opponent's forces. Signature mechanics include managing troop morale and supplies, planning multi-front offensives, and resolving combat through detailed tactical engagements. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be steep, demanding careful attention to logistics and terrain. It feels like conducting a slow, tense campaign where every decision carries weight.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
