Game Overview

I picked up The Flintstones: Big Trouble in Bedrock for the Game Boy Advance back in 2001. It was developed by Rocket and published by Ubisoft, one of those licensed platformers that felt right at home on the GBA during its early years. The game captures the look and humor of the cartoon, placing you right in the middle of Bedrock with all its stone age charm.

You control Fred Flintstone, and sometimes Barney joins in for certain sections. The goal is to rescue Wilma and Betty after they get kidnapped; you move screen by screen, clubbing enemies, breaking rocks for gems, and avoiding environmental hazards like falling boulders or pesky dinosaurs. The levels are fairly linear but packed with obstacles that require timing, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels like a straightforward, sometimes janky, but genuinely fun romp through a classic cartoon world.
