Game Overview

I picked up The Flintstones: Big Trouble in Bedrock for the Game Boy Advance back when it came out. It was developed by Artificial Mind and Movement and published by Crave Entertainment, one of those licensed platformers that felt pretty common for the system. It didn’t try to reinvent the wheel, but it had a certain charm if you were into the show.

You control Fred Flintstone, moving through side-scrolling levels set around Bedrock. Your main goal is to rescue Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm after they’re kidnapped; you swing Fred’s stone club to break rocks and fend off enemies like sabertooth cats and dinosaurs. The game uses a two-player mode where a second player can join as Barney, helping to clear obstacles or tackle enemies cooperatively. Levels are straightforward but require some timing, especially with jumps and enemy patterns. It’s not overly difficult, but it keeps you engaged with simple objectives and familiar settings. Playing it feels like a light, cartoonish romp that captures the silly energy of the original series.
