Play The Hobbit Online
You play as Bilbo getting dragged into an adventure, tapping buttons for quick sword swipes or charging up stronger attacks while sneaking past Gollum and solving puzzles with fireworks. The pixelated Middle-earth feels surprisingly cozy for a GBA game.

I picked up The Hobbit for Game Boy Advance back in 2003, developed by Saffire and published by Sierra. It was one of those licensed games that came out during the GBA's prime, a time when handhelds were full of adaptations, some good, some forgettable. This one always stood out to me for how it tried to capture the spirit of the book in a compact, side scrolling adventure.
You control Bilbo Baggins, moving through levels that follow the story from Bag End to the Lonely Mountain. The gameplay mixes exploration, combat, and light puzzle solving. You use your sword for basic attacks or hold the button to charge a stronger strike; timing matters against enemies like trolls and spiders. Stealth sections pop up, like sneaking past Gollum in the dark, and you collect items such as keys and health restoring lembas bread. The pacing is deliberate, not rushed, and some parts demand careful observation. It feels like a thoughtful, hands on journey through a familiar tale.
