Play The Summoning Online
You wake up in a pitch-black dungeon, tracing magic runes on your keyboard while something growls just beyond the torchlight—better check for traps first.

Game Overview
Man, The Summoning takes me back—this MS-DOS dungeon crawler still holds up surprisingly well. You start off dumped in some creepy underground prison with zero explanation, which immediately sets the tone. At first I just stumbled around poking at walls (expecting to die), but then the game slowly reveals its secrets: rune-based magic you actually draw with your keyboard, traps that'll wreck you if you're careless, and enemies that make you think twice before charging in.
The atmosphere is thick enough to cut with a dagger—dim torchlight, distant screams, and this constant feeling something’s watching you. Combat’s tactical without being tedious, and the puzzles? Some are downright evil in the best way. I remember getting stuck for ages on a door puzzle until I realized the solution was hidden in some throwaway NPC dialogue three floors back.
What really stuck with me was how the game doesn’t hold your hand. You’ll miss spells, walk into ambushes, and probably starve to death at least once. But when you finally nail a perfect rune combo or outsmart a demon with some weird item you’ve been hoarding? Pure magic. Still one of the moodiest RPGs from that era.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
