You boot up what looks like a serious medieval game, then the Stooges crash in and it turns into a chaotic scramble—slap fights, cracker-eating contests, and desperate money grabs to save an orphanage.
Game Overview
Okay, so The Three Stooges on MS-DOS is this weird little board game-style thing where you play as the Stooges trying to save an orphanage by earning cash through ridiculous minigames. At first, it totally tricks you—the game boots up looking like Defender of the Crown, complete with dramatic music, until the Stooges barge in, Moe smacks someone, and the whole thing derails into chaos. Classic.
Gameplay’s a mix of luck and timing—you’ve got 30 days to rack up money, and each day you hit a button to randomly land on an event. Some are minigames (like a cracker-eating contest or boxing match), others just hand you cash or screw you over. The boxing one’s my favorite—it’s pure slapstick, with the Stooges flailing around like drunk windmills.
Endings range from "bank takes the orphanage" (oof) to the Stooges somehow marrying the owner’s daughters after a full renovation. The NES version even fakes you out with a Ghostbusters II title screen first. It’s janky, unpredictable, and exactly the kind of nonsense you’d expect from these guys.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
