Play Tick, The Online
Control The Tick, brawl through city streets, punch and toss thugs, rescue Arthur, and take down Chairface Chippendale in this quirky side-scroller.
I picked up The Tick for the Super Nintendo back in 1994, a game developed by Software Creations. It was one of those licensed titles that came out during the SNES era, based on the cartoon about the big, blue, nigh-invulnerable superhero. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it was a solid side-scroller that captured the show's particular brand of humor.
You control the Tick, moving screen by screen through city streets and enemy hideouts, punching and throwing an endless supply of thugs and weird villains. Your main goal is to rescue Arthur and stop the evil Chairface Chippendale. The combat is simple but satisfying; you can grab enemies and toss them into the background or off the screen entirely. The levels are fairly linear, with some light exploration for health items and extra lives. The difficulty can spike in places, especially with some cheap enemy placements, but the action stays fast and silly. It feels like you're brawling your way through a Saturday morning cartoon episode.
