Game Overview

Time Machine is one of those weird, clever Amiga games that sticks with you. You play as Professor Potts—a guy who really should’ve picked a safer hobby than time travel—after his lab gets blown up and he’s tossed 10 million years into the past. The whole thing plays out across five distinct time periods, and here’s the kicker: what you do in one era affects the others. Plant a seed in the Stone Age, and suddenly there’s a full-grown tree in the Wild West. Mess with a dinosaur, and… well, let’s just say future-you won’t be thrilled.

It’s mostly about puzzle-solving, though there are some annoying critters trying to zap you (luckily, the prof packs a rechargeable taser). The real fun comes from hopping between time zones, lugging objects around, and seeing how tiny changes snowball into big consequences. You get these little portable time machines to drop wherever you want, which sounds overpowered until you realize you’re still just a guy in a lab coat trying not to get eaten by a pterodactyl.

Fair warning: some of the puzzles are downright devious. But when you finally figure out how to chain events across millennia, it feels like cracking a time-traveling heist. Just don’t blame me when you lose three hours muttering, “Okay, but what if I move the rock before the volcano erupts?”
