Timequest came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, developed by Legend Entertainment. It was part of that wave of text-heavy adventure games that relied on your imagination as much as the graphics, which were functional but not the main draw. You played it for the story and the puzzles, not for flashy visuals.
You control a time traveler tasked with fixing historical errors before reality unravels. The gameplay involves moving screen by screen through different eras, from ancient Egypt to the distant future, solving inventory-based puzzles and conversing with historical figures. The main objective is to correct specific paradoxes, and the difficulty comes from the sheer number of locations to explore and the non-linear order you can tackle them. It feels like being an archivist with a time machine, where every small action has unpredictable, often humorous, consequences.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
