Game Overview

TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist came out in 1992 for the Sega Genesis, developed and published by Konami. It was part of that wave of solid side scrolling beat 'em ups that felt right at home on the system, a straightforward arcade style experience you could play through in an afternoon.

You choose one of the four turtles and fight your way through New York and Shredder's forces, screen by screen. The main goal is to stop Shredder from using the Hyperstone to shrink the entire island of Manhattan. You have your basic attacks, a special move that costs health, and the ability to throw enemies. The levels are fairly linear but packed with enemies, and the difficulty can spike during boss fights, which require pattern recognition. It feels like a focused, slightly faster version of the Turtles in Time formula, condensed for the home console.
