Konami released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989. It was a direct port of the popular arcade cabinet, bringing that cooperative experience home. For NES owners at the time, it was a solid addition to the library of side-scrolling action games, offering a familiar but polished take on the genre.

You control one of the four turtles, moving from left to right through city streets and Technodrome interiors. Your main goal is to fight through waves of Foot Soldiers and other enemies to rescue April O'Neil and defeat Shredder. The game uses a simple attack and jump system, with each turtle having a unique weapon (like Leonardo's katana or Michelangelo's nunchaku). You progress screen by screen, clearing all enemies before moving forward, and can use special attacks that temporarily clear the screen at the cost of some health. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can feel punishing with limited continues, but coordinating with a friend makes it manageable. It feels chaotic and energetic, like being dropped into a cartoon brawl.
