Tom and Jerry: Mousehunt came out for the Game Boy Color in 1999, developed by Warthog. It was one of those licensed platformers that felt right at home on the handheld, colorful and straightforward, a familiar cartoon world shrunk down to fit in your pocket.
You control either Tom or Jerry across a series of side scrolling levels, each one a house full of hazards and items to interact with. The goal is simple: as Jerry, you gather cheese while avoiding Tom; as Tom, you chase Jerry. You can set traps, like springs or mousetraps, and use objects such as frying pans to temporarily stun your opponent. The game moves at a quick pace, and the challenge comes from timing your movements around these environmental tricks. It feels like controlling a classic cartoon chase, silly and a little frantic.
