Tomodachi Collection came out for the Nintendo DS in 2009, developed and published by Nintendo. It was part of that era where the DS was full of quirky, personal games that felt like they were made just for the handheld, something you could pick up and put down without much pressure.
You control a version of yourself as a resident on an island, and your main goal is to manage the lives of the Miis you create or import. You assign them personalities, give them jobs, and furnish their apartments; then you just watch as they interact, form friendships, fall in love, or start arguments over trivial things. The game moves at a slow, daily pace, with new small events and requests popping up regularly, and the difficulty is practically nonexistent since there's no way to fail. It feels like peeking into a strange, miniature world that somehow keeps you checking back every day.
