You control either a skater or a surfer, completing objectives to progress through each sport's career mode. In Tony Hawk's part, you perform tricks, grind rails, and find gaps to build your score and unlock new areas. Kelly Slater's side has you catching waves, performing maneuvers, and riding tubes to meet specific score targets or time challenges. The pacing is fairly quick, with short bursts of action suited to handheld play, though the controls can feel a bit cramped during complex combos. It's a game that rewards persistence, especially when you finally nail a line or a wave you've been struggling with.
