Game Overview

Twin Hawk came out for the Sega Genesis in 1989, developed by Toaplan. It was one of those straightforward shoot 'em ups that felt right at home on the system, sitting alongside other early titles that focused more on action than story. You didn't get a lot of frills, just a solid arcade-style experience that asked for quick reflexes and a steady hand.

You control a World War II era propeller plane, flying from left to right, shooting down enemy aircraft and ground targets. The main goal is to survive each stage and defeat the boss waiting at the end. Your signature ability is calling in allied planes; they form up around you and can be sent out to attack automatically or sacrificed to clear the screen of bullets. Power-ups dropped by certain vehicles upgrade your main fire and increase the number of allied escorts. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming in from all directions, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding sharp maneuvering. It feels hectic but manageable when your escort strategy clicks.
