Toppler came out in 1987 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Michael Welch. It was one of those simple, focused puzzle games that felt right at home on early PCs, where straightforward mechanics and escalating challenge were the norm.
You control a frog hopping across a grid of lily pads that sink after you step off them. The goal is to clear every pad on the screen before they all disappear. Each level introduces new obstacles, like bugs that crawl across the pads or pads that sink almost immediately. The pace starts relaxed but quickly becomes tense as you plan routes under pressure. It feels like a race against your own hesitation.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
