Game Overview
Total Carnage on the Amiga is basically what happens if you take a cheesy '90s action movie and turn it into a top-down shooter. You play as either Captain Carnage or Major Mayhem—two guys who apparently missed the memo that fighting radioactive mutants in post-apocalyptic Kookistan might be a bad career move.
The first thing you'll notice is how chaotic it gets. Mutants come at you from all directions, and your little machine gun feels hilariously inadequate until you stumble on a flamethrower or rocket launcher. The controls take a second to get used to—moving diagonally feels a bit stiff at first, but once you’re weaving through bullets and grenades, it clicks.
Co-op is where this really shines. Trying to coordinate with a friend while rescuing hostages (who, let’s be honest, mostly just get in the way) turns into pure chaos. Half the time you’re yelling at each other for accidentally blowing up the wrong thing. The weapons are ridiculous in the best way—nothing like mowing down mutants with a spray-fire rifle just because you can.
It’s not deep, but it’s the kind of game where you’ll keep saying “one more level” until you realize you’ve been at it for an hour.
