Traffic Department 2192 came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Creative Edge Studios and published by Merit Software. It was a time when top-down action games with gritty themes were finding their audience on PC, and this one fit right in with its dark, futuristic setting.
You play as Marta, a traffic cop in a decaying cyberpunk city, piloting a flying patrol car. Your main job is to enforce traffic laws, issue tickets, and respond to emergencies, but things quickly spiral into a deeper conspiracy involving clones and organized crime. The gameplay shifts between writing citations for speeding vehicles, engaging in shootouts with gang members, and slowly uncovering clues through dialogue and environmental interaction. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes tense, sometimes methodical, and the difficulty can spike during combat sequences. It feels like balancing bureaucratic duty with survival in a city that wants you dead.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
