Play Trekboer Online
You scrape together a homestead in the wilderness, weighing every choice—hunt now or risk starving later, patch the roof or lose everything to the next storm. That old-school tension makes every tiny victory matter.

Trekboer is one of those MS-DOS Classic Games releases from the early '90s, a time when strategy and survival sims were finding their footing on home computers. I don’t recall the developer offhand, but it fits right in with that era of thoughtful, resource-driven gameplay that didn’t rely on flashy graphics. You’re placed in the role of a frontier settler in historical Southern Africa, tasked with building a life from almost nothing.
You control a family of settlers managing resources like food, tools, and building materials. The main goal is to survive and gradually expand your homestead through seasons and random events. Key mechanics include making strategic decisions about hunting, farming, and construction; each action consumes time and affects your chances of weathering droughts or illness. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, and the difficulty comes from balancing short-term needs against long-term security. It feels like a constant, low-key battle against entropy, where every small success actually means something.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
